Being rejected - not just once, but multiple times - is part of the process for most people. Even if you’ve studied at a top university or done everything “right,” the path to landing job offers is rarely smooth.
Even once you are within a job and looking to get onto certain projects, get promoted or switch firms rejection is inevitable.
This can take a real emotional toll, especially when rejections pile up. That’s why it’s essential to have strategies in place to process rejection, build resilience, and keep moving forward-with clarity, confidence, and tawakkul (trust in Allah).
Rejection doesn’t just sting - it can affect your mindset and motivation. Here are some common emotional responses to be aware of:
Replaying the event again and again in your head, asking “what if…”
Feeling like there’s more pressure than ever to succeed next time
Feeling drained, disheartened, or unsure whether to keep trying
Starting to believe that no matter what you do, things won’t improve
Set your mindset before the applications begin:
Detach from the outcome
It’s okay to be excited about a role-but don’t cling to it. What looks good on paper might not be right for you in reality.

…Perhaps you dislike something which is good for you and like something which is bad for you. Allah knows and you do not know. (al-Baqarah 2:216)
